Hi geraldine, There are some great hotel trains which I think are good value - considering they include accommodation, as well as the journey, I love travelling by train - slow travel - like slow food. on Women Travel the world - http:// www.womentravel.info there are some great places to stay - the one I loved most was Florence Women's B&B. Also Rosanna of Eliotropica Tours in Italy could offer some great ideas I am sure to help you on the way.

hey everyone - I'm old but not infirm -want to go on the cheap from Paris to Rome and then on to Basilicata , mean to take the train, and stay on the adriatic for a few weeks. Will drop down into Italy with the cheapest flight i find and generally speaking my money is small but my imagination and determination are big. Need all the advise I can come by of how to stretch my money, housing, markets all food and sundry, anything perfectly beautiful, lovliness, joy, delight and etc. I especially want to bisit the cave cities at Mattera, and "Pulia",back and forth along the coast and up into the hill towns. Tell me what you know that I need to know. Please .....Geraldine

Being a women and loving to travel myself i loved this site. I have to say I have been lucky when travelling as I have a fantastic lady at Flight Centre (Sarah) who knows what I like when I travel (a good deal!) and because she knows me she knows that I'd rather pay a bit more and stay in a safe part of town than do everythink on the cheap cheap and end up in perhaps a part of town that as a single women I wouldn't feel that safe in. If you don't have someone like my Flight Centre Sarah then this site looks like it might be the next best thing!
